GENERAL INFORMATION:
Slayden Plumbing & Heating, Inc. (SPHI) was founded in May of 1979 by its current President,
William L. Slayden. The company was incorporated in the State of Alaska on October 14, 1983.
SPHI is engaged in the mechanical contracting business in the State of Alaska. The home
office is in North Pole, Alaska with a branch office in Wasilla, Alaska.
SPHI has completed many remote projects in Alaska as well as projects in Fairbanks,
Anchorage, and in the State of Washington. The company has worked on public and private
projects in more than 75 villages and cities. SPHI has completed mechanical projects that
involved detailed scheduling of equipment and material deliveries to remote sites. The
company’s projects have included elderly housing; shopping malls; restaurants; HUD housing
for Native Americans; water treatment plants; hotels; hospital renovations; medical clinics;
dental clinics; U.S. Army new housing and renovations; U.S. Air Force housing and renovations;
U.S. Coast Guard Housing; U.S. Federal Aviation Administration Control Towers, Flight Service
Stations, water treatment plants, and housing; U.S. Fish and Game aircraft hanger; U.S. Air
Force Hangers, warehouses and office buildings; U.S. Air Force and Army barracks
renovations; Anchorage and Fairbanks School renovations and additions; Lower Kuskokwim
School District school additions and renovations; Hooper Bay School addition; Fairbanks
School District main office building; churches; private schools in North Pole, Fairbanks, Palmer

Slayden Plumbing & Heating, Inc. was a member of the Alaska Chapter of the Associated
General Contractors from 1984 through 1999. SPHI has been the runner up for Alaska AGC’s
subcontractor of the year award in both 1996 and 1997. The company is a Charter member of
the Alaska chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors association. SPHI is a
corporation which gives back to its community. An example of the company’s charity is SPHI
sent 15 youth from Venetie and Chalkytsik to summer camp at Harding Lake. The company
sponsors many youth sport teams throughout Alaska and donates to many other community
needs.
OFFICERS OF THE CORPORATION:
William Slayden (Bill) is the President and a member of the Board of Directors. His
responsibilities include directing the entire company with particular attention to estimating and
work acquisition. Mr. Slayden has more than 35 years of experience in the mechanical field.
Timothy Beckley (Tim) is the Vice President and Secretary. Tim is responsible for all financial
activities of the corporation. Mr. Beckley has more than 25 years experience in the mechanical
field.
Jennifer Engle is the Treasurer of the Corporation. Jen has more than 15 years experience in
construction accounting.
KEY EMPLOYEES OF THE CORPORATION:
Julie Duquette is responsible for all field operations. Julie has more than 20 years experience.
She was a project manager for a large general contractor prior to her employment with SPHI.
Andrew Workman is the Plumbing manager and manages the Wasilla branch. Andy has more
than 18 years experience in the mechanical field.
Brett McLean is the HVAC manager. He has more than 20 years experience in the
mechanical field.
Noelle Umbarger is a purchasing agent. She is responsible for project purchases and
shipping. Noelle has more than 10 years experience in the mechanical field.
Rick Larrison is a purchasing agent. He is responsible for project purchases and shipping.
Rick has more than 20 years in the mechanical field.
Steve Eldridge is a project manager with more than 20 years experience in the mechanical field.
Alan Morlan is a project manager with more than 20 years experience in the mechanical field.
Mitchell Clinkenbeard is a project manager with more than 20 years experience in the
mechanical field.
Joe Holden is a project manager with more than 15 years experience in the mechanical field.
Alvin Dolchek is a HVAC project manager with more than 20 years experience in the
mechanical field.
Richard Henderson is a HVAC project manager. He has more than 20 years experience in the
mechanical field.
Dana Shriner is the office manager and responsible for payroll, certified payroll reports, EEO
reporting and all other reports. She has more than 15 years experience.
Slayden Plumbing & Heating, Inc. has approximately 70 full time employees. During peak
construction periods SPHI has had 120 employees. SPHI is an equal opportunity employer. It
is our practice to hire qualified local residents for our projects. SPHI’s apprenticeship program
for plumbers and sheet metal workers is the largest in the Alaska Chapter of the Associated
Building Contractors. SPHI pays prevailing wages and provides a benefit package in addition
to those wages for its employees.
FACILITIES:
Slayden Plumbing & Heating, Inc. owns 4.1 acres located on the Palmer/Wasilla Highway in
Wasilla, Alaska. The company built a new 4,400 sq. ft. office/shop building on that property in
1996 and a new 8,800 sq. ft. sheet metal / pipe fabrication shop, in 1999. SPHI owns 6 acres
on the Richardson Highway in North Pole, Alaska. The company built an office/shop building on
that property in 1983. Then built an office building on that property in 1995. The older building
now is a sheet metal fabrication and pipe fabrication shop. There is now a total of six buildings
on that property location, a total of 12,000 square feet of office/shop space.
VEHICLES, EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS
Slayden Plumbing & Heating, Inc. owns all of its vehicles, equipment and tools. Equipment
owned by SPHI includes backhoes, manlifts, forklifts, sheet metal fabrication equipment and
tools, welders, power threaders, power tools, compressors, air and fluid test equipment,
portable water test laboratory and combustion analysis equipment.
